Grade Two – Healthy lifestyles:
Central Idea: Making
balanced choices about daily routines enable us to have a healthy
lifestyle.
We will:
• To study our daily routines. (Eating, sleep, hygiene, safety
play and exercise.)
•
Look the choices available to us.
•
Identify balanced choices.
•
Look at the consequences of our choices.
Skills we will develop include:
Research, thinking, listening, reporting, cooperating, working
as a group, presenting, reflective, analysing.
We want to be knowledgeable, thinking, open minded, balanced, reflecting,
communicators.
Vocabulary:
Balanced, diet, healthy, unhealthy, safety, choices, hygiene, consequences,
vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, dairy products, protein, exercise.
• Ways to help at home:
Discuss the concept of a healthy diet. Look at different foods when
shopping. Discuss the importance of exercise, play, and sleep why
we need them and how much we need. Safety issues at home in the car,
at the beach, crossing roads etc.
